What’s a good MM/SV raiding/dps/trapping build?
Overall, I’d say that’s a good MM/SV build. Any changes would be subjective and subject to debate. That being said, one thing I would suggest (others may disagree, I’m just offering my opinion), is to switch points from Barrage to Go for the Throat. My reasoning is that having more focus for your pet to bite, claw, gore, or whatever during a fight is more valuable than the increase damage to Multi-shot and Volley. In my experience, there are limitations on the use of Multi-shot and Volley. In contrast, your pet will most always be in the action. Supplying your pet with the focus needed to use its abilities pays off in the long run. In terms of bang for the buck, I believe you’ll get more out of Go for the Throat. That’s my opinion. I know cookie-cutter MM builds put points in Barrage and Imp. Barrage. Because of the above reasoning, I prefer to skip them. Overall, your gear looks okay for a presumably fresh level 70. You’ll be upgrading as you go (check Aethien’s list for what you should look to get), but for now stuff looks okay. Some suggestions: I would replace the blue +9 Stam gem on the pants. You don’t really need the +4 Dodge socket bonus. Put in a red AP or Agi gem. Put purple gems into the Stalker’s Helm to replace the blue stamina gems. -Shifting Shadow Draenite ??3 Agi, 4 Stam -Shifting Nightseye ??4 Agi, 6 Stam -Balanced Shadow Draenite ??6 AP, 4 Stam -Balanced Nightseye ??8 AP, 6 Stam You want the socket bonus, but you can get it and get some AP or Agi using purple gems which work in blue or red sockets. If you can afford it, put an Agi or AP enchant on the axe and put a scope on the bow. I’d probably hold off on other enchants, since most of your gear will be replaced. Good luck, happy hunting. so i noticed a funny thing while playing my 38 hunter today… well it started when i realized you could run between autoshots without losing any dps (ie to get closer for you can run back and forth between range and melee while losing very little dps as opposed to staying at range only. as in: autoshot > strafe and melee > strafe and autoshot > strafe and melee > etc. currently i’m only really doing it to try and level up my weaponskill. just a few 1) is this tactic common knowledge? i haven’t read anything about it, but i am waaaay out of touch with range/mana classes. (out of 2) i don’t use a very mana-intensive rotation. i typically will mark > send pet > serpent sting > arcane > autoshot til death, maybe throw another arcane in every now and then. i like ending fights at 85-90 mana with no downtime…. keeping a reserve in the case of adds or world pvp opportunities. my hunter still out-dps’s my 48 pally on same-level mobs so i’m good with this rotation. 3) i’m pretty sure my weapon combo is pretty bad for this trick. i would guess that with the right combo it would be much better dps than straight autoshots, no? so what would the right combo be, range weap and 2H of equal speeds? 4) there’s the range/melee threat issue, so it might not work with surv or marks builds. i haven’t raided in oh, 7 months (O.O omg has it been that long,) so i don’t know if you ever go OOM and have to just sit and autoshot to regen, but as a former MT i think it would be hilarious to watch a hunter creep up on the boss between shots then do a dance. -Ozapftis – level 70 drunk tank

S1 is gonna go away and S2 is gonna cost the same as S1 honor wise.
